Αϊτή - ΗΠΑ. Αμερικανοί συνελήφθησαν να βγάζουν λαθραία παιδιά από την Αϊτή.

Η αϊτινή αστυνομία συνέλαβε 10 αμερικανούς πολίτες ενώ προσπαθούσαν να πάρουν 33 παιδιά από τη σεισμόπληκτη χώρα για παράνομες υιοθεσίες, ανακοίνωσαν χθες Σάββατο οι αρχές.

Οι πέντε άνδρες και πέντε γυναίκες κρατούνται στην πρωτεύουσα Πορτ-ο-Πρενς αφού συνελήφθησαν το βράδυ της Παρασκευής. Υπάρχουν φόβοι ότι λαθρέμποροι θα προσπαθήσουν να εκμεταλλευτουν το χάος μετά το σεισμό της 12ης Ιανουαρίου που έπληξε την Αϊτή για να κάνουν παράνομες υιοθεσίες.

Μία από τις υπόπτους, η οποία ισχυρίστηκε ότι είναι επικεφαλής μιας φιλανθρωπικής οργάνωσης με έδρα το ʼινταχο, αρνήθηκε ότι έκαναν κάτι κακό.

Οι ύποπτοι τέθηκαν υπό κράτηση στο Μαλπάς, το κύριο μεθοριακό σταθμό διέλευσης προς τη Δομινικανή Δημοκρατία, αφού η αϊτινή αστυνομία πραγματοποίησε έλεγχο ρουτίνας στο όχημά τους.

Οι αρχές ανακοίνωσαν ότι οι Αμερικανοί δεν είχαν έγγραφα για να αποδείξουν ότι είχαν πραγματοποιήσει νόμιμα την υιοθεσία των 33 παιδιών (ηλικίας 2 μηνών ως 12 ετών) μέσω κάποιας πρεσβείας και επίσης δεν είχαν χαρτιά που να δείχνουν ότι τα παιδιά είχαν μείνει ορφανά εξαιτίας του σεισμού.

"Αυτό είναι εντελώς παράνομο", δήλωσε ο Ιβ Κρισταλέν, υπουργός Κοινωνικών Υποθέσεων της Αϊτής. "Κανένα παιδί δεν μπορεί να φύγει από την Αϊτή χωρίς την κατάλληλη άδεια και αυτοί οι άνθρωποι δεν είχαν αυτή την άδεια".
